Private AI Home Assistant Installation in Toronto
Kotoh Home installs private AI home assistants in Toronto for Estate projects. We fly in for install day and design for what Toronto homes face: ice storms, summer cloudbursts and long winters.
For Estate projects in Toronto
We take on Toronto installs as Estate projects: larger homes, more than one property, or households with staff. We don't have a Toronto office. We do a video walk-through, design the system, then fly in for install day and hand everything over in person.
Ice, cloudbursts and long winters
Toronto's weather tests a house in both directions. On December 22, 2013, a sustained freezing rain event brought down utility poles and tree branches under the weight of the ice and plunged about 30 percent of the city into darkness, some homes until after Christmas. Across Ontario, Hydro One reported more than 600,000 outages at the storm's height.
Summer has its own risk. During the afternoon rush on July 8, 2013, a record rainstorm dropped 126.4 mm, nearly five inches, at Pearson Airport, most of it in about an hour and a half. It flooded streets, subway tunnels and basements across a wide swath of the city.
Winters can also be long. The 2013–14 winter is remembered as the coldest and longest in recent memory, and a house that sits empty through a cold snap needs someone, or something, watching the heat. That is the core of what we set up for Toronto clients who split the year between homes.
Victorian rows to new builds
Terraced homes are common in Old Toronto, many in the local bay-and-gable style popular in the 1870s, in neighborhoods such as Cabbagetown, Parkdale and The Annex. Older brick homes with stacked floors and finished basements need a network planned for every level. Newer and larger homes need one that reaches garages, pool houses and outbuildings.
What we set up
- Outage alerts, with battery backup for the hub, network and AI computer, and an optional cellular backup so messages still reach you.
- Freeze protection: sensors in exterior rooms and near pipes, and alerts if the heating stops while you're away.
- Basement water: sensors by drains, sump pumps and water heaters, with an automatic shutoff valve.
- Staff and guest access for a house manager or housekeeper, limited to what each person needs.
- A private assistant you text, connected to your calendars, email and the house.
Built for Canada
Canada uses the same 120-volt, 60 Hz power as the United States, which keeps things simple, but we still specify devices sold for the Canadian market, and any work on the wiring is done by a qualified local electrician.
How a Toronto install runs
- Video walk-through of the house, devices, network and household routines.
- Design and fixed quote, including Canadian-market equipment, network design and travel.
- Preparation: any wiring done by a local electrician to our spec, and the AI computer configured before we arrive.
- Install visit: hub, AI computer and network set up, devices and accounts connected, and the household and staff trained.
- Care continues remotely, with on-site visits quoted when needed.
Where your data lives
Every install puts a smart-home hub in the house, running your devices and routines locally. For Toronto clients we usually recommend Private Home: the AI runs on a dedicated computer in your home and keeps working through an internet outage, so your household's requests are processed in the house. Private Cloud uses a private server in a U.S. data center. If your data needs to stay in Canada, choose Private Home. We don't advise on privacy law; your own advisers can.
Pricing
Toronto projects are Estate projects, quoted individually in U.S. dollars after the walk-through, with travel included. For reference, Private Home starts at $24,995 for a single home, with care at $399 a month. See estates and house managers for what's included.
Request a video walk-through on our contact form or email hello@kotohhome.com. We reply within one business day.
Common questions
Do you work in Toronto?
Yes, for Estate projects. We start with a video walk-through, then travel to Toronto for install day. Travel is quoted with the project, and pricing is in U.S. dollars.
Will the devices work in Canada?
Canada uses the same 120-volt, 60 Hz power as the US, but we specify devices sold for the Canadian market, and any electrical work is done by a qualified local electrician.
Can it warn me about basement flooding?
Yes. Water sensors by floor drains, sump pumps and water heaters text you the moment they detect water, and an automatic shutoff valve can close the main if a pipe bursts.
Can my data stay in Canada?
With Private Home, the AI runs on a computer in your house, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a server in a U.S. data center. If keeping data in Canada matters to you, we recommend Private Home. We don't give legal advice on data rules.
