Private AI Home Assistant Setup in San Antonio
Kotoh Home sets up private AI home assistants for San Antonio homes remotely, with routines built for flash floods, long summers and the occasional freeze that catches Texas off guard.
Floods, heat and the 2021 freeze
San Antonio sits on the Balcones Escarpment, where the Texas Hill Country meets the plains, and the city and nearby New Braunfels are among the most flood-prone areas in North America. Summers are long and hot: July and August average highs of 95°F, and the record is 111°F, set on September 5, 2000.
Cold is rarer, which is exactly why it hurts. During the February 2021 storms the city got 4 to 6 inches of snow, and the cold triggered rolling blackouts across San Antonio until February 18. Statewide, more than 4.5 million homes and businesses lost power. Houses here aren't built with hard freezes in mind, so a few hours without heat can mean burst pipes.
What the assistant watches for
- Water inside the house. Leak sensors at the water heater, washer, sinks and any low spot that has taken water before, with an automatic shutoff valve on the main that closes the moment a leak is detected.
- Freeze warnings for your pipes. Temperature sensors where pipes run along exterior walls or through the garage, with an alert when they approach freezing.
- Summer comfort and cost. Pre-cooling on your schedule, higher setpoints while you're away, and a heads-up if the house is getting warmer than the thermostat setting, which can mean the air conditioner needs service.
- A daily rundown by text. Your calendar, school pickups, deliveries and anything that needs your attention in the inbox, with drafts you approve before anything is sent.
Set up from a distance, done carefully
For San Antonio, Private Cloud is a remote setup. We start with a free video walk-through of your home, your Wi-Fi and the devices you already own. Then we configure the hub and ship it to you pre-loaded with your rooms and routines. You plug it into your router, and we connect everything together over a video call.
If you need new equipment, such as a shutoff valve, sensors or smart switches, we send a parts list with exact placement, for your plumber or electrician to install to our spec. Or we can quote a travel install. Private Home, with the AI running on a computer in your house, is installed in person as a travel install.
Where your data goes
Private Cloud runs an open-source AI model on a private server we operate for you in a U.S. data center, with no conversation logs kept and nothing sent to big AI companies. Private Home keeps everything inside the house. In both cases the hub that runs your lights, locks and sensors is local, so rules like "close the water main if a leak is detected" don't depend on the internet. See how we secure the home network.
Good fits in San Antonio
Remote setup works best for homes that already have a few connected devices, such as a smart thermostat, a video doorbell or smart lights, and a reliable internet connection. It's also a good match for families who split time between San Antonio and a lake house or Hill Country property, because one assistant can keep an eye on both. If you're starting from scratch, that's fine too: we'll recommend a short list of reliable devices that work locally with the hub, explain where each one goes, and stage the rollout so the most important protection, water and temperature, goes in first. Before anything ships, you'll get a written plan and a fixed price.

Common questions
Can it warn me about flooding?
It can tell you what's happening inside your home, such as water on the floor or a sump area filling. For street and creek flooding, follow official city and county warnings; the assistant can relay alerts you subscribe to.
What happens if the power goes out?
Battery-backed sensors keep reporting to the hub, the hub keeps running your rules, and when power returns the assistant texts you what happened while it was out. An optional cellular backup keeps alerts coming if your internet is down.
Do you have a team in San Antonio?
No. We set up Private Cloud remotely: we ship you a pre-configured hub, you plug it into your router, and we connect your accounts and compatible devices with you over a video call. Private Home and Estate projects in San Antonio are travel installs, where we fly in for install day.
