Private AI Home Assistant Installation in São Paulo
Kotoh Home designs and commissions private AI home assistants in São Paulo for Estate projects. We start by video, specify everything to Brazilian standards, and fly in to commission the system.
For Estate projects in São Paulo
São Paulo is the largest urban economy in Latin America, and many of the households that ask us about it run more than one home, often a city apartment, a country house and a beach house. We take these on as Estate projects. We don't have an office in Brazil. We do a video walk-through, design the system, and fly in to commission it.
Built to Brazilian standards
Brazil is its own electrical environment. The national plug and socket standard is NBR 14136, which became compulsory in 2010, and the same plugs are used in both 127-volt and 220-volt regions; supply runs at 60 Hz. Older installations can still have other socket types, and few private houses have an earthed supply even where a three-pin socket is present. So we specify equipment sold for the Brazilian market, and a licensed electrician checks the wiring before anything is connected. Smart-home radios also differ by region, so we choose devices approved for local use rather than carrying anything over.
Summer storms and the grid
São Paulo sits on a plateau at about 799 meters, with a humid subtropical climate. Summer is hot and rainy: rainfall averages about 292 mm in January alone, and heavy storms are common in the warmer months. Storms can affect the grid far beyond the city. In November 2009, a thunderstorm that hit a key transmission line from the Itaipu Dam helped trigger a blackout in which São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states lost power entirely, one of the largest blackouts on record.
The design starts from that. The hub runs your house locally, so lights, locks and routines keep working without the internet, and a battery backup keeps the hub and network up through short outages. When power returns, the assistant tells you what happened: which rooms lost power, whether the generator ran, and whether anything needs attention.
High-rise living and household staff
The city's center is vertical, and many families live in apartment towers or in houses with full-time staff. The assistant is built for that:
- Role-based access for house managers, housekeepers, drivers and security, each limited to what they need, with a log of every action.
- Door and entry alerts when you want them, and quiet when you don't.
- A hardened, separate network for smart devices, apart from the computers and phones in the house.
- A private assistant you text from WhatsApp or iMessage, connected to calendars, email and the house.
How a project in São Paulo runs
- Video walk-through. We look at the house, your devices, the network and how the household runs, and agree on what the assistant should handle.
- Design and specification. We specify equipment made for the local market, the network, and any electrical work, then send a fixed quote that includes travel.
- Local work, to our spec. Where local rules require it, the physical installation and any electrical work are done by a locally licensed installer or electrician working to our specification. Work-visa and permit rules vary by country, and we confirm what applies before we quote.
- Commissioning visit. We configure and commission the hub, the AI computer and the network, connect your devices and accounts, and train the household and staff.
- Care. Updates, monitoring and new routines continue remotely under your care plan; on-site visits are quoted when needed.
Where your data lives
Every install puts a smart-home hub in the house, running your devices and routines locally. For clients in São Paulo we generally recommend Private Home: the AI runs on a dedicated computer in your home, so your household's requests are processed there and nothing goes to a cloud AI service. Private Cloud, our lower-cost tier, uses a private server in a U.S. data center. If you want your data to stay in Brazil, choose Private Home. Data-protection rules apply in many countries; we aren't lawyers and don't advise on them, so your own advisers should confirm what applies to you.
Pricing
Projects in São Paulo are Estate projects, quoted individually in U.S. dollars after the walk-through, with travel in the quote. For reference, Private Home starts at $24,995 for a single home, with care at $399 a month. See estates and house managers for what an Estate project covers.

Common questions
Do you work in São Paulo?
Yes, for Estate projects. We start with a video walk-through, design the system, and travel to commission it. Where local rules require it, installation and electrical work are done by a locally licensed installer or electrician to our specification. Pricing is in U.S. dollars.
Will US devices work in Brazil?
Not reliably, so we don't use them. Brazil's national plug standard is NBR 14136 (Type N), and the country uses both 127-volt and 220-volt supplies at 60 Hz. Few private houses have an earthed supply even where three-pin sockets exist, so an electrician checks the wiring before anything is connected. We specify equipment sold for the Brazilian market.
What happens in a summer storm?
The hub in the house keeps your routines running locally. If the power or internet drops, the assistant tells you what happened once the connection returns, and a battery backup keeps the hub and network up through short outages.
Can my data stay in Brazil?
With Private Home, the AI runs on a computer in your house, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a server in a U.S. data center. If keeping data in the country matters to you, choose Private Home. We don't give legal advice on data rules.
Can staff use it without seeing everything?
Yes. Each house manager, housekeeper, driver or security team member gets access to only what they need, and every action is logged.
