Private AI Home Assistant Installation in Hong Kong
Kotoh Home installs private AI home assistants in Hong Kong for Estate projects. We design for long humid summers, typhoon signals and high-rise living, and work with a locally licensed installer where local rules require it.
For Estate projects in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has the most skyscrapers of any city in the world, 554 towers taller than 150 metres, and one of the most expensive residential property markets anywhere. Single-family detached houses are uncommon and mostly found in outlying areas. We take on Hong Kong installs as Estate projects: large flats, houses, multiple homes or households with live-in staff. We don't have a Hong Kong office. We do a video walk-through, design and configure the system, and travel for commissioning.
Typhoon signals
The Hong Kong Observatory issues tropical cyclone warning signals from Standby Signal No. 1 up to Hurricane Signal No. 10. No. 8 is issued when half or more of its reference anemometers record sustained winds of 63 to 117 km/h, and since 1987 the Observatory has given two hours' warning before issuing it. Once a signal higher than No. 3 is up, government offices, schools, the financial markets and most businesses close.
Those two hours are when a typhoon routine is useful. With one text, or automatically from the alerts you choose, the assistant can close motorized windows and shades, confirm every window sensor reads closed, switch on dehumidifiers, and send your household and helper a checklist. Water sensors at balcony doors, windows and under sinks text you if anything comes in.
Humidity, all summer
Hong Kong has a humid subtropical climate. From May to August, afternoons often pass 31°C (88°F) and nights stay around 26°C (79°F) with high humidity, and typhoons occur most often in summer, sometimes bringing floods or landslides. Even spring brings spells of high humidity. For a flat that sits closed while you travel, damp wardrobes and mould are the everyday risk. We place humidity sensors in wardrobes, storerooms and wine storage and let the assistant run dehumidifiers and air conditioning to keep each room in range, texting you if one stays damp.
High-rise living
In a tower, most of what we install is wireless and stays inside your flat: sensors, lighting control, shades, climate and the hub. Anything that touches common areas or building systems is agreed with management first. In a house, we cover the whole property, from the gate and garage to the garden.
Built to Hong Kong standards
Hong Kong homes use 220-volt, 50 Hz power, and Type G (BS 1363) sockets are most common. We specify devices sold for Hong Kong and confirm the correct radio frequencies for every wireless device before ordering. We design, configure and commission the system; where local rules require it, the physical installation and any electrical work are done by a locally licensed installer or electrician to our specification. Visa and permit requirements are confirmed before we quote.
What we set up
- A private assistant you text from iMessage or WhatsApp, connected to your calendars, email and the home.
- Typhoon and rainstorm routines for windows, shades and dehumidifiers.
- Humidity control for wardrobes, storerooms and closed rooms.
- Helper and guest access, limited to what each person needs.
- A hardened network with smart devices on their own network.
Where your data lives
Every install puts a smart-home hub in the home, running devices and routines locally. For Hong Kong clients we generally recommend Private Home: the AI runs on a dedicated computer in your home, and nothing goes to a cloud AI service. Private Cloud uses a private server in a U.S. data center. If your data needs to stay in Hong Kong, choose Private Home. We don't advise on data protection rules.
Pricing
Hong Kong projects are Estate projects, quoted individually in U.S. dollars after the walk-through, with travel included. For reference, Private Home starts at $24,995 for a single home, with care at $399 a month. See estates and house managers, and our storm-season guide for how storm routines work.
Request a video walk-through on our contact form or email hello@kotohhome.com. We reply within one business day.
Common questions
Do you work in Hong Kong?
Yes, for Estate projects. We start with a video walk-through, design and configure the system, and travel for commissioning. Where local rules require it, a locally licensed installer or electrician does the physical work to our specification. Visa and permit requirements are confirmed before we quote.
Can it react to typhoon signals?
Yes. A typhoon routine can close motorized windows and shades, check that every window sensor reads closed, and text you and your household when you set it off or when a warning comes through the alerts you choose.
Which devices do you use in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong homes use 220-volt, 50 Hz power, and Type G (BS 1363) sockets are most common. We specify equipment sold for Hong Kong and confirm the correct radio frequencies for every wireless device.
Does it work in an apartment tower?
Yes. Almost everything is wireless and stays inside your flat, and anything touching common areas is agreed with building management first.
Can my data stay in Hong Kong?
With Private Home, the AI runs on a computer in your house, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a server in a U.S. data center. If keeping data in Hong Kong matters to you, we recommend Private Home. We don't give legal advice on data rules; your own advisers can.
