Private AI Home Assistant Installation in Mumbai

Kotoh Home installs private AI home assistants in Mumbai for Estate projects. We design for the monsoon, for life in high-rise towers and for households with staff, and work with a locally licensed installer where local rules require it.

For Estate projects in Mumbai

Mumbai is India's financial capital and its most populous city proper, with a metropolitan region of more than 20 million people. It also has by far the most skyscrapers in India, 247 as of 2026, with hundreds more under construction. We take on Mumbai installs as Estate projects: large apartments, bungalows, multiple homes or households with staff. We don't have an office in India. We do a video walk-through, design and configure the system, and travel for commissioning.

Designing for the monsoon

Mumbai's climate has a long, nearly rainless dry season and a short, extremely wet one. The official date for the monsoon to reach the city is 10 June, July is the wettest month, and July and August bring almost non-stop rain and weeks without sunshine. Average annual rainfall is about 2,213 mm (87 in) in Colaba and 2,502 mm (99 in) in Santacruz. On 26 July 2005, 944 mm (37.17 in) of rain fell in 24 hours, and the city came to a standstill.

For a home, the monsoon shows up as water at windows and balcony doors, seepage on terraces, and damp that settles into wardrobes and closed rooms. We place water sensors where water gets in and humidity sensors where damp collects. The assistant texts you the moment a sensor detects water, runs dehumidifiers and air conditioning to keep rooms in range, and tells your staff which room needs attention. If you're away for the season, you can ask for a short daily report instead of calling home.

Towers, bungalows and backup power

Most of our Mumbai clients live in high-rise apartments. There, nearly everything we install is wireless and stays inside your flat, and anything touching common areas or building systems is agreed with the society or building management first. If your home or building has a generator or inverter backup, we can connect what's available to monitoring, so the assistant can tell you when the house switches to backup and when mains power returns.

Built to Indian standards

Indian homes use 230-volt, 50 Hz power with Type C, D and M sockets. The Bureau of Indian Standards has enforced mandatory certification of plug products to the IS 1293 standard since June 2022, and Z-Wave devices for India use 865.2 MHz, different from US and European devices. We specify equipment sold and certified for India. We design, configure and commission the system; where local rules require it, the physical installation and any electrical work are done by a locally licensed installer or electrician to our specification. Visa and permit requirements are confirmed before we quote.

What we set up

  • A private assistant you text from iMessage or WhatsApp, connected to your calendars, email and the home.
  • Monsoon leak and damp alerts, with dehumidifiers and cooling run automatically.
  • Staff access for drivers, cooks and housekeepers, limited to what each person needs, with a log.
  • Power monitoring where your backup system allows it.
  • A hardened network with smart devices kept apart from your computers.

Where your data lives

Every install puts a smart-home hub in the home, running devices and routines locally. For Mumbai clients we generally recommend Private Home: the AI runs on a dedicated computer in your home, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a private server in a U.S. data center. If your data needs to stay in India, choose Private Home. We don't advise on data protection rules.

Pricing

Mumbai projects are Estate projects, quoted individually in U.S. dollars after the walk-through, with travel included. For reference, Private Home starts at $24,995 for a single home, with care at $399 a month. See estates and house managers and our guide to access for household staff.

Request a video walk-through on our contact form or email hello@kotohhome.com. We reply within one business day.

Common questions

Do you work in Mumbai?

Yes, for Estate projects. We start with a video walk-through, design and configure the system, and travel for commissioning. Where local rules require it, a locally licensed installer or electrician does the physical work to our specification. Visa and permit requirements are confirmed before we quote.

Which devices do you use in India?

Indian homes use 230-volt, 50 Hz power with Type C, D and M sockets, and plug-in products must meet the Indian IS 1293 standard. Z-Wave devices for India use 865.2 MHz. We specify equipment sold and certified for India.

Can it warn us about monsoon leaks?

Yes. Water sensors at windows, balcony doors, terraces and under sinks text you the moment they detect water, and humidity sensors flag rooms that stay damp through the rains.

Can our staff use it?

Yes. Drivers, cooks and housekeepers can get limited access, such as a door code or the lights in their area, with a log of who did what.

Can my data stay in India?

With Private Home, the AI runs on a computer in your house, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a server in a U.S. data center. If keeping data in India matters to you, we recommend Private Home. We don't give legal advice on data rules; your own advisers can.
