Smart Home and Private AI Installation in Jackson Hole
Kotoh Home installs private AI home assistants and smart home systems in Jackson Hole, set up for long, subzero winters and houses that sit empty between visits.
Subzero nights, months at a time
Jackson sits at 6,237 feet in a narrow valley at the headwaters of the Snake River. Teton County, home to about 23,000 people at the 2020 census, contains all of Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and a large share of Yellowstone.
It is also very cold. Jackson averages about 236 mornings a year below freezing and roughly 35 below zero Fahrenheit, and the subzero season typically runs from late November to early March. The record low is −52°F, set in December 1924. Snowfall averages about 78 inches a year. For a house that's empty between visits, the stakes are simple: if the heat fails on a subzero night, pipes can freeze fast, and a burst pipe in a vacant house can run for days.
What we set up for Jackson Hole homes
- Freeze alerts that arrive early. Temperature sensors in the coldest rooms, the mechanical room and any crawlspace, set to warn you while there's still time to act, not after a pipe has frozen. The freeze, leak and power alerts guide covers thresholds.
- Leak sensors and an automatic shutoff on the main, so a burst pipe becomes a text instead of a flood.
- Heating and power monitoring. Whether the boiler or furnace is running, whether the power is on, and whether the standby generator started.
- Arrival and departure routines that warm the house before you land and put it back into away mode when you leave.
- A caretaker in the loop. If someone local checks on the house for you, they can get the alerts you choose and a door code that works for their visits only. See smart homes for house managers and caretakers.
When the internet goes down too
Winter storms can take out the power and the connection together. The hub in the house keeps running your rules locally, so the shutoff valve still closes and the heat schedule still runs. We put the hub and network on battery backup, and an optional cellular backup keeps alerts reaching you when the internet is down. This is also where second-home monitoring and a care plan pay for themselves: someone is watching the system all winter, even when you aren't.
How a travel install works
Kotoh Home is based on the East End of Long Island and in Miami. We don't keep an office in Jackson Hole; we come to you. It works in three steps:
- Video walk-through. A free call where you show us the house, the network closet and the devices you already have. We agree what the assistant should handle and give you a fixed price.
- Install day. We fly in, set up the hub and your private AI, secure the network, connect your accounts and devices, and show everyone in the household how to text it.
- Care from a distance. Updates, monitoring and new routines happen remotely under your care plan. If something ever needs hands on site, we quote the trip first.
Travel is billed at cost and quoted with the project, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Private by design
Every install puts a smart-home hub in your home that runs your devices and routines locally, so they keep working when the internet doesn't. With Private Home, the AI runs on a dedicated computer in the house that you own, and your household details never leave it. With Private Cloud, it runs an open-source model on a private server we operate for you in a U.S. data center, with no conversation logs kept and nothing sent to OpenAI, Google or Amazon; the AI chat pauses during an internet outage while the hub keeps the house running. For a house where storms can cut the connection, Private Home keeps the assistant itself working inside the house. Messages travel through Apple's or Meta's encrypted networks depending on the app you use, and connected accounts like email and calendars stay with their providers. Common questions
Do you have an office in Jackson Hole?
No. Kotoh Home is based on the East End of Long Island and in Miami. For Jackson, Teton Village and Wilson we start with a video walk-through, then fly in for install day, and travel is quoted at cost with your project.
How cold does it get, and why does it matter?
Jackson averages about 236 mornings a year below freezing and around 35 below zero Fahrenheit. In an empty house, a heating failure on a night like that can freeze pipes within hours, so the alert needs to reach you, or your caretaker, quickly.
Can it shut the water off if a pipe bursts?
Yes. An optional automatic shutoff valve on the main closes as soon as a water sensor detects a leak, and you get a text telling you what happened and where.
Can our caretaker get alerts too?
Yes. A caretaker or property manager can receive the same alerts, or only the ones you choose, and get door access that works only for their visits, with each entry logged.
What does it cost?
Private Cloud starts at $4,995, plus a $199-a-month care plan that includes your private AI server. Private Home, with a dedicated AI computer in the house that works fully offline, starts at $24,995, with care at $399 a month. Estate projects are quoted individually, and travel is quoted at cost.
