Private AI Home Assistant Setup in Phoenix

Kotoh Home sets up private AI home assistants in Phoenix remotely. In the hottest major city in the country, the most important job is simple: know immediately when the air conditioning stops.

Heat is the risk

Phoenix averages 111 days a year at or above 100°F, and highs top 110°F on about 21 days. The all-time record is 122°F, set on June 26, 1990. Nights don't always help: the normal daily low stays at or above 80°F for about 74 days each summer. In July 2023, Phoenix ended a 31-day streak of highs over 110°F, averaged 102.7°F for the month, the hottest month recorded for any U.S. city, and set a record warm low of 97°F on July 19.

In that heat, an air conditioner that quits is not an inconvenience. It's a danger to people and pets, and in a house that sits empty for the summer, it can damage the home and everything in it.

Monsoon season

Since 2008, the National Weather Service has treated June 15 as the official first day of the monsoon. Summer storms bring sudden wind, rain and dust storms known as haboobs, which are common around Phoenix, and power can drop with them.

What we set up for Phoenix homes

  • AC watch. Temperature sensors and a connected thermostat, with a text the moment the house gets too warm or the AC stops keeping up.
  • Empty-house mode. For homes closed up for the summer: safe temperature settings, weekly check-ins and alerts that go to you and whoever looks after the house.
  • Outage alerts with a battery backup for the hub and router and an optional cellular backup.
  • Pool and water. Pool equipment status if your controller connects, plus leak sensors by the water heater, softener and sinks.
  • Monsoon routine. Close shades and the garage, check doors, and text the household when a storm warning is issued.

Remote setup in Phoenix

After a video walk-through, we ship a hub configured for your house. You plug it in, and we connect your thermostat, existing devices, calendars, email and family texting on a call. New wired devices are installed by your electrician to our spec, or we quote a travel install.

Who gets the alert

If you're out of town when the AC fails, a text to you isn't enough on its own. We set up a second contact, such as a neighbor, house manager or HVAC company you trust, who gets the same alert, and the assistant can share the current indoor temperature and how fast it is rising, so they know how urgent the visit is.

Prices

Private Cloud starts at $4,995, with a $199-a-month care plan that includes your private AI server. That is the tier we set up remotely. Private Home, with a dedicated AI computer in your house that works fully offline, starts at $24,995 with care at $399 a month; in Phoenix it is a travel install, and travel is quoted with the project at cost. Estate projects are quoted individually. Smart devices are extra. The full breakdown is in our cost guide.

Privacy

The hub runs your house locally. With Private Cloud, the assistant uses an open-source model on a private server we operate for you in a U.S. data center, with no conversation logs and no training on your data. More in our guide to local vs cloud AI.

Common questions

Can it tell me if my AC stops working?

Yes. With a connected thermostat or indoor temperature sensors, the assistant texts you when the house climbs past a temperature you set, or when the AC is running but the house keeps getting hotter. In Phoenix, that early warning is the main reason to have a system.

What about monsoon storms and outages?

The hub keeps running your rules locally, and with a battery backup and an optional cellular backup, it can still alert you when the power drops and tell you when it's back. You can also set a storm routine in advance.

Do you install in person in Phoenix?

Private Cloud is set up remotely: we ship a configured hub and connect everything over video. Private Home and Estate projects in Phoenix are travel installs, quoted with the project.

What does it cost?

Private Cloud starts at $4,995 plus a $199-a-month care plan that includes your private AI server. Private Home starts at $24,995 with care at $399 a month, plus travel. Estate is quoted individually.
