Private AI Home Assistant Installation in London
Kotoh Home installs private AI home assistants in London for Estate projects, often for clients with homes on both sides of the Atlantic. We fly in for install day and specify everything to UK standards.
For Estate projects in London
We offer London installs as Estate projects: larger homes, multiple properties or households with staff. Many of the people who ask are already thinking about more than one house, such as a London home and a place in the Hamptons or Miami, and want one assistant that understands all of it. We don't have a London office. We do a video walk-through, design the system, and fly in for install day.
Built to UK standards
A UK home is a different electrical environment. The nominal supply is 230 volts at 50 Hz, and sockets follow BS 1363, with fused plugs and shuttered sockets. So we don't carry over US equipment. We specify hubs, sensors, thermostats and lighting control sold for the UK market, and any work on the wiring is done by a qualified UK electrician, either yours or one appointed for the project.
Period homes, listed buildings and conservation areas
London's housing is old and much of it is protected. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for alterations, in addition to ordinary planning permission, and these are managed by local planning authorities. Conservation area status removes some permitted development rights that apply elsewhere. For a smart home, that pushes the design in a sensible direction: wireless sensors, battery-powered devices, lighting control that works with existing switch positions, and nothing visible on the facade. Where a change might touch the building's fabric, check with your planning authority or conservation officer before we proceed. We plan around their answer.
What we set up
- A private assistant you text from iMessage or WhatsApp, connected to your calendars, email and the house.
- Heating, leaks and security: UK-spec thermostats and radiator controls, water sensors with automatic shutoff, door and window sensors, and alerts when the house is empty.
- Staff and guest access for a house manager, housekeeper or driver, limited to what each person needs, with a log of who did what.
- A hardened network with smart devices kept apart from your computers.
How a London install runs
- Video walk-through. We look at the house, your devices, the network and how the household runs, and agree on what the assistant should handle.
- Design and specification. We specify UK-market equipment, the network and any electrical work, and send a fixed quote including travel.
- Preparation. Any wiring is done by a qualified UK electrician to our spec before we arrive, and the AI computer is configured in advance.
- Install visit. We set up the hub, the AI computer and the network, connect your devices and accounts, and train the household and staff.
- Care. Updates, monitoring and new routines continue remotely under your care plan; on-site visits are quoted when needed.
Where your data lives
Every install puts a smart-home hub in the house, running your devices and routines locally. For London clients we generally recommend Private Home: the AI runs on a dedicated computer in your home, so your household's requests are processed there and nothing goes to a cloud AI service. Private Cloud, our lower-cost tier, uses a private server in a U.S. data center. If your data needs to stay in the UK, choose Private Home. We aren't lawyers and don't advise on data protection rules; your own advisers can.
Pricing
London projects are Estate projects, quoted individually in U.S. dollars after the walk-through, with travel included in the quote. For reference, Private Home starts at $24,995 for a single home, with care at $399 a month. See estates and house managers for what an Estate project covers.
To begin, request a video walk-through on our contact form or email hello@kotohhome.com. We reply within one business day.
Common questions
Do you work in London?
Yes, for Estate projects. We start with a video walk-through, then travel to London for install day. Travel is quoted with the project, and pricing is in U.S. dollars.
Will US devices work in a UK home?
No, and we don't use them. UK homes run on 230-volt, 50 Hz power with BS 1363 sockets, so we specify devices made for the UK market, and any electrical work is done by a qualified UK electrician.
Can you work in a listed building?
Often, because most of what we install is wireless and goes inside. Listed buildings can need listed building consent for alterations, in addition to planning permission, and conservation areas remove some permitted development rights. Check with your local planning authority before any change to the fabric or exterior; we design around what's allowed.
Can my data stay in the UK?
With Private Home, the AI runs on a computer in your house, so your household's requests are processed there. Private Cloud uses a server in a U.S. data center. If keeping data in your own country matters to you, we recommend Private Home. We don't give legal advice on data rules.
Can one assistant cover my London and US homes?
An Estate project can cover multiple properties. We'll plan how each home's hub works and how the assistant reaches them during the walk-through.
